How it works

How does reelaxe work?

You upload one long video. reelaxe finds the parts worth posting and turns each into a vertical 9:16 clip, framed on whoever's talking, with captions burned in. You check them, trim them if you want, and download.

1. Upload your video

Drop in a video file: mp4, mov, webm or mkv, up to 2 GB. How long a video can be depends on your pack (see Pricing). Then choose:

  • How many clips. 1 to 10, or Auto to let reelaxe decide. Your pack sets the most you can ask for.
  • What kind of video. Speech (podcasts, interviews), Music (songs, rhymes), or Auto, which listens to a few samples of your video and decides. Speech and music are cut differently.
  • A caption style. Bold pop, Clean, Karaoke, or No captions.

2. It finds the moments

reelaxe transcribes what's said and reads it.

For speech, the transcript goes to an AI model as numbered sentences. It picks runs of whole sentences that open on a strong line, hold one thought and end on the payoff. Every clip is 20 to 90 seconds. Ads, sponsor reads, "like and subscribe" and channel intros and outros are left out of every clip.

For music, it looks for the parts that repeat, like the chorus, and cuts between sung lines.

3. It frames each shot on the speaker

The whole video is cropped once to vertical 1080×1920. In speech videos it finds faces. When two people are too far apart to fit the vertical frame, it shows the one who is talking. It works that out by matching mouth movement to the sound, and only cuts to a new speaker once they've been talking for a moment.

4. It burns in the captions

Captions come word by word, timed to the speech, in the style you picked. They're part of the video file, so they show up wherever you post it. Captions come with the Creator and Studio packs and the free trial.

5. You check and edit

Each clip lands in your library. Open one in the editor to:

  • drag its start and end, up to a minute either side of the original cut;
  • fix a word, delete one, or merge or split caption lines;
  • switch the caption style;
  • reset it to the original cut.

Saving makes a new version of the clip. Trim works on every pack. Editing captions needs a pack with captions. A clip stays editable for 14 days after it's cut, and the editor shows the date.

6. You download

Download each clip as a video file and post it wherever you like. Your upload is deleted once your clips are ready. Clips stay in your library until you delete them.

What a job costs

You pay for the length of your upload, not the number of clips. A 42-minute video costs 42 minutes of credit, whether you get three clips or nine. See Pricing.
